Martin Chester
Martin Chester is the Publicity Officer of the British Mountain Guides and the Chief Instructor of Plas y Brenin - the National Mountain Centre. More adventurous than talented, Martin is a "Jack of all trades - master of none!" although he is particularly passionate about ski mountaineering.
"For me, the adventure and camaraderie is more important than the technicality. I get my professional kicks from helping others achieve their potential - from those first tentative steps to high level coaching. I also train and assess the full spectrum of UK qualifications, manage the development of National Centre Instructors, and deliver on BMG training courses".
Martin is also a fully qualified Mountaineering Instructor, and Level 5 Kayak coach, with a 'thing about coaching'. He sits on the Training and Youth Committee of the BMC, contributes to the "National Source Group for Coaching in Mountaineering", and has represented Mountaineering at Sports Coach UK.
TV, film and media experience includes the concept, writing and production of "Off Piste Essentials" an educational DVD for backcountry skiers, ski tourers and ski mountaineers; regular appearances in CountryFile and CountryTracks for BBC TV; and writing for The RedBulletin, Fall-line Skiing and Summit magazines.
