Off-piste skiing and ski touring have been my passion for more years than I care to remember - and certainly that I care to make public. Each winter I run ski safaris in the Alps, off-piste weeks based from hotels and ski tours.
I have written Mountain Navigation ( this has become the standard textbok on the subject and has sold nearly 100,000 copies), Alpinism, Ski Mountaineering (now out of print, but you might pick up a copy from Amazon), and The Haute Route (a guide to this classic tour from Chamonix to Zermatt).
Join me to explore new places in the Alps, ski some great slopes, and work on your technique - and all the time your safety and enjoyment will be my sole objective.
I am a former President of the British Mountain Guides and am the current Chair of its Professional Standards Committee.
