Rich Cross
Hi, I'm a full time guide and director of Alpine Guides Ltd. I've been climbing for 20 years, loving every apsect from bouldering right through to winter Alpinism, and I've travelled the world persuing my passion for the sport. Earlier in my climbing career I went on many expeditions to the greater ranges, which included the first ascent of Ama Dablams NW ridge, for which I was nominated for the Piolet d'Or. Recently I've moved back to my roots and spend most of my spare time rock climbing around the UK, Scottish winter climbing and exploring the European Alps. I love being in wild places and find great pleasure sharing these experiences - the greatest joy in life comes from experience shared!
In the winter time I run the company Ice climbing program, specialising in technical 1:1 guiding on ice falls and winter alpine couloirs. During the summer I run the Alpine mountaineering program from our base in Chamonix, again specialising in 1:1 alpine rock, mixed climbing and north faces. I also spend each spring guiding in the UK, in the Peak District, Wales and exploring the Western Highlands of Scotland.
When not guiding or travelling I live in Sheffield with my wife Liz, balancing time between home life, Alpine Guides, road biking and the local gritstone..
