Sandy Allan
Sandy is an active mountain guide based mainly in Scotland with a secondary base in Chamonix, France. As director of Team Ascent Ltd, Sandy provides a world wide mountaineering service for beginners through to experienced mountaineers.Team Ascent provide walking, trekking, introductory climbing courses and coaching for winter mountaineering, ice and mixed climbing, rock climbing and of course ski mountaineering .We run and guide a number of expeditions in the greater ranges. A large part of our work is private guiding from basic beginner skills such as basic navigation skills, avalanche awareness, walking and climbing, winter survival to guiding 8000 meter peaks including the seven summits.None of this can happen with out the assistance of other qualified IFMGA guides from around the world. Team Ascent also employ international mountain leaders, UK qualified instructors and our amazing high altitude climbing sherpas many of whom like Sandy have summited several 8000 meter peaks and simply love working in the high mountains.
Sandy is also a founder of the Industrial Rope Access Trade Association ( IRATA) and has been instrumental in establishing industrial rope access as a recognised safe way to work. As an individual member Sandy is an IRATA assessor and also provides a consultancy service to industry ( both on and offshore) for difficult access projects, including work at height.
