Jon Morgan
I am a UK based Guide, living in the Peak, currently working full time as a doctor, though a short working week allows me plenty of time for long weekend activities. Most of my guiding in the last few years has been on rock in the UK and ski touring in the Alps. I am the only practising doctor in the UK who is also an IFMGA guide. I have a keen interest in mountain medicine, and am currently studying for a postgraduate Diploma of Mountain Medicine, overseen by the University of Leicester. In addition I am a qualified instructor in Advanced Trauma Life Support.
I have an unhealthy addicition to competitive sport, and compete in at least 30 fell races and mountain marathons a year both locally and at national level. Since 2004 I have been a member of the British Ski Mountaineering Team, and will be competing once again the World Championships in Andorra in March 2010. I am staving off the inevitable effects of aging, by ever increasing training intensities, and am continuing to improve slowly. I am looking forward to the time time when that is no longer so, and so can enjoy the mountains at a sedate pace and once again enjoy the view!
