Eric Pirie

I am based in the north-east of Scotland where I was fortunate to grow up spending my youth Skiing, walking and climbing in the Cairngorms. As well as being a full guide I hold the following qualifications: Mountain Instructor Certificate,Level 3 kayak coach,BASI Alpine and Telemark ski instructor, SMBLA Trail cycle leader, Swift water rescue technician.

Having grown up on skis one of my greatest passions is skiing, be it on telemark or alpine touring equipment. So I spend part of my winter Instructing and guiding in Scotland and the rest guiding on skis in the Alpine countries. In summer I work throughout the Alps from June through September providing bespoke guided or instructional experiences to suit the individual needs of my clients. I still work half of the year for Glenmore Lodge the Scottish National Outdoor Training centre so life is always busy.

I have a particular interest in wilderness medicine, through this I am qualified as a Wilderness emergency medical technician and can provide specialist medical cover in mountain or remote environments. I am a course director and teaching faculty member of the Wilderness emergency medical services Institute - Europe. (WEMSI) and have run there Scottish courses since 2000. This interest was founded in having been an active member of the Cairngorm Mountain rescue team since 1983.
