BMG at ISPO
Rich Talbot shows Stu the range
BMG equipment officer, Stu MacDonald, 'meets our sponsors' at the largest outdoor equipment trade show in Europe
Over the period 7-10 February, Europe's biggest outdoor trade show took place in Munich. This year the BMG has been there to see the latest developments in clothing and equipment, and to talk to our sponsors. Stu Macdonald (BMG equipment officer) reports:
As BMG Equipment Officer I was really keen to be involved in ISPO. The long drive from Chamonix was a necessary evil, but once I was in Munich I was very glad I had made the effort. The scale of ISPO was quite incredible. Each hall was the size of a sports stadium, and there were 18 of them!
BMG Clothing Sponsors Mountain Equipment had an excellent stand displaying their new range of clothing. Richard Talbot from Mountain Equipment took half an hour from his busy schedule to talk me through their latest innovations, and to discuss our ongoing partnership. Mountain Equipment also won the competition for best snacks by having large bowls of Haribo strategically placed around the stand.
Other noteable points included the new Ortovox 3+ avalanche transceiver - it's lightweight, simple, cheap, and fast. What more do you want from a transceiver ? Black Diamond have also developed a new device for making perfect abalokov threads. It's basically a protractor that allows for different length ice screws and ice thickness, always making the perfect V Thread.
Looking to the future, I'll definitely be going back to ISPO next year. It's the perfect opportunity to see what's new, what's hot, and to meet with the movers and shakers of the outdoor trade.
