The winter season’s been up and running now for a good few weeks in Scotland, with some inspiring ascents straight out of the blocks. British Mountain Guides have been in the thick of it, showing their passion and commitment to our “winter little big mountains”. If you’re not easily put off, have a read of Martin Moran’s eloquent descriptions of some meaty early season action.

In preparation for the Scottish winter component of their Mountain Guide apprenticeship, trainee guides have been honing their skills on classic and testpiece routes, readying themselves for their training and assessments later in the season.

BMG members are actively involved in traditional guiding, winter mountain instruction, Scottish avalanche forecasting, as well as training and assessment at the National Mountain Centres throughout the season ahead. Get in touch with a Guide to help you make the most of this winter.
