I am a UK based Guide, living in the Sheffiled, currently working as a doctor, though a short working week allows me plenty of time for long weekend activities. Most of my guiding in the last few years has been on rock in the UK and ski touring in the Alps. I am the only practising doctor in the UK who is also an IFMGA guide. I have a keen interest in mountain medicine, and am currently studying for a postgraduate Diploma of Mountain Medicine, overseen by the University of Leicester. In addition I am a qualified instructor in Advanced Trauma Life Support.
I have an unhealthy addicition to competitive sport, and compete in at least 30 fell and trail races, mountain marathons and ultras each year both locally, nationally and internationally. I was UK UK Ultrarunning Champion 2010. Since 2004 I have been a member of the British Ski Mountaineering Team, and have competed in 4 World Championships. I love guiding on skis- it gives me the opportunity to share my love and passion of moving efficiently in the mountains in the winter, with the ability to take the time to enjoy the views and share the experience with friends.
