The British Mountain Guides will be at the Excel Outdoors Show in London 12th – 15th January.
This year the BMG have a stand in the climbing area and will be carrying out a host of informative and interesting things over the 4 day duration of the Outdoors Show.
Martin Chester, Director of Training at Plas y Brenin, will be giving talks on the varied work of a Mountain Guide.
Libby Peter, well known for her Rock Climbing book, will be giving some rock climbing coaching.
Other skills being demonstrated by the BMG will include:
· Crevasse rescue with the new DMM crevasse rescue kit.
· Roping- up and taking coils for glacier travel.
· Crevasse rescue for skiers.
· Use of avalanche transceivers for locating buried victims.
There will be plenty of Guides to chat to and ask questions. So whether you want to know how to become a Guide, or which climb would be suitable for your first trip to the Alps, why not come along and say hello?
