A note on categories of members:
Guide
A member who has completed the syllabus as determined by the IFMGA and may practise worldwide.
Trainee
A member who has passed the BMG summer assessment and may practise in the UK in non-winter conditions.
Aspirant
A member who has passed the BMG winter assessment and may practice in the UK throughout the year. May also practise in the Alps within limitations set by the BMG and IFMGA.
Associate
A member and being a full member of another MGA to whom subscription and civil insurance dues are paid. OR A member who has temporarily withdrawn from practice.
Retired
A member who has permanently ceased to practise.
Honoured
A title awarded in appreciation for services to the BMG.
