British Mountain Guides at the Arc’teryx Academy 2016

Posted: 12.06.16 by James Thacker

Starting on Friday 17 June, Chamonix will once again host the prestigious Arc’teryx Academy and British Mountain Guides will be at the core of this international event.

With over 350 students booked to attend, there is a fantastic variety of subject matter which goes to demonstrate the breadth of what constitutes alpinism, and the knowledge and experience that’s available from the guides.

For those attending, you can look forward to seeing British Mountain Guides at the following clinics:

Acclimatisation trek, Glacier preparation, Basic Mountaineering, Advanced Alpinism, Multi Pitch Rock, Climbing, Glacier tour supported by Petzl, The MSR Overnight Bivouac, Alpine Photography, Trad Climbing, Improvised Rescue from Alpine Climbs, Ice Climbing Level 1.

If you didn’t manage to get a place on this year’s Academy, you can still show up for the Movie night on the Saturday and visit the wide variety of attractions at the Academy village in front of the Aiguille du Midi téléphérique.

Thanks to the BMG members who volunteered their time to help out:

Ben Bradford, Ben Tibbetts, Dave Green, Gavin Pike, Jim Kerr, Jonny Baird, Kenny Grant, Mac Mackay, Mark Chadwick, Miles Bright, Neil Mackay, Rob Wills, Rocio Siemens, Russell Braddock, Sandy Allan, Steve Hartland, Steve Jones, Willie Todd.

We look forward to meeting new faces and repeat offenders alike, as well as working alongside our international colleagues and our partners at Arc’teryx.

See you there!
