Aspirant
I am from Dublin, Ireland and presently working as an aspirant guide, out of Chamonix, where I have lived for 8 years. I got into climbing when I was 27. It was an absolute game changer for me and a turning point. I started out on the sea cliffs of Ireland, traditional climbing and then began to travel and develop my skills all over the world. From a year spent in Canada, I learnt how to ice climb in Canmore. I then moved to Squamish, where I learnt how to crack climb and also got stuck into the world class bouldering there. I began to explore the incredibly wild mountain ranges in western Canada, and most memorably, the Bugaboos. I later moved to Chamonix for the first time and to access the winter mountain routes I started to learn how to ski. At this point I was introduced to the idea of working as a guide and started to consider it. Several years later and I am almost through this incredible journey to becoming a guide, and I have not regretted the choice I made to persevere in this trade. I'm a part of an amazing community of like minded people and I have now experienced the satisfaction we all get from bringing clients into the mountains!
