Full Guide
I have been climbing and mountaineering in the UK and around the world for the last 35 years and have worked full time in the mountains since 1987. I live in Chamonix with my wife and 2 daughters. As an International Mountain Guide, I hold the IFMGA carnet, but I also hold the Mountain Instructors Certificate (MIC), which is the UK’s highest qualification for mountain professionals. I have worked and climbed extensively all over the UK, the European Alps and in the greater ranges of North and South America and the polar regions, specialising in Antarctica. Since 1992, I have spent more than 5 years of my life on Antarctic 'soil' and currently work with a private logistics company, guiding and advising on operational safety in this remote environment. Another part of my role as a Mountain Guide has seen me working and advising on many film projects around the world, including: Batman; James Bond; IMAX; and various productions for both UK and international television. In Winter, my focus turns to skiing and snowboarding. I have pursued both for the last 30 years and have taken my boards with me wherever I have been, whether it has been making first snowboard descents in Antarctica, working on Ski Patrol in Canada or skiing in my backyard, here in Chamonix. Whatever your aspirations, my years of diverse experience will ensure that I can provide positive and challenging experiences in the mountains that you will enjoy. When I'm not out and about guiding, climbing, skiing or snowboarding in snowy places, I like to spend time with the family, get out on my road bike or spin some discs on the record decks.
