“4 days, 70+ guided clinics, 30+ athletes and tons of exceptional experiences. The 8th edition of the Arc’teryx Alpine Academy will unite the global alpine community in Chamonix, France. 450+ alpine enthusiasts from 30 countries will come together to advance their mountain skills and share alpine knowledge.”
Unbelievably, it’s almost that time of year again, when guides from multiple nations and organisations join forces in what’s grown to become one of the standout events of the guiding calendar: the Chamonix Arc’teryx Alpine Academy.
What we are guaranteed is that this year’s event will be even bigger, busier and better than previous years. With a new Arc’teryx Alpine Village venue in Chamonix at the Place du Triangle, this site will allow space for a larger gathering of alpinists and all the activities that will be focused here.
This event has grown year on year, with British Mountain Guides first getting involved back in 2012. Since then the BMG has enjoyed providing high-quality guides to run a huge range of programs alongside some of Arc’teryx’s top sponsored athletes and our professional colleagues in Chamonix. The list of programs and events is extensive with nearly all alpine and climbing activities catered for. One of the biggest benefits for both students and guides taking part in this event is getting to operate alongside some of the world’s greatest athletes.
This year we have a fine list of Guides representing the BMG:
- Andy Perkins
- Jonny Baird
- James Clapham
- Kevin Avery
- Mark Chadwick
- Ross Hewitt
- Richard Mansfield
- Will Sim
- Steve Hartland
- John Crook
- Phil Dowthwaite
This is one of the only events of its kind that draws so many international guides together under the same banner. Creating an atmosphere that’s second to none and one that should not be missed.
The BMG is proud to be invited back for the fifth year in a row, allowing us to showcase our guides and guiding skills alongside one of our key partners; Arc’teryx.
Even if you have missed the opportunity to book on any of the programs then you should still come along to the Alpine Village to see everything that’s going on there.
For more information go to the Arc’teryx Alpine Academy website.
Hope to see you there
Mark Chadwick
