Over 20 British Mountain Guides will be helping out at the 4th Arc’teryx Alpine Academy in Chamonix this June.
This unique and highly respected event offers alpine enthusiasts of all levels the opportunity to improve their technical skills and safety knowledge mentored by mountain guides and pro athletes
Taking place on June 12-14th, Chamonix will welcome 400 mountain lovers for three days of workshops, clinics and seminars. New for this year are clinics on big wall climbing and ski alpinism, as well as a mountain clean-up event on Thursday 11th, which will also provide the perfect chance for some pre-event acclimatization.
Based at the Aiguille du Midi lift station in central Chamonix, the event offers a wide range of clinics from basic mountaineering, crevasse rescue to an overnight photography course. All workshops are led by professional mountain guides from the ‘Compagnie des Guides de Chamonix’, the ‘British Mountain Guides’ (BMG), Chamex Guides and Arc ́teryx Pro Athletes like Ines Papert, Luka Lindi!, Nina Caprez, Mina Leslie-Wujastyk, and many more.
With a focus on learning and sharing, off-mountain activities include the seminar night on Friday with workshops from the athletes and guides, and the Alpine Movie Night on Saturday.
The mountain clear-up which takes place on Thursday is run in cooperation with the Compagnie du Mont Blanc which Arc’teryx staff, pro-athletes and volunteers will all take part in, helping to give something back to the beautiful mountain environment.
“We’re looking forward to meeting the alpinists from many different countries who come to the crucible of alpinism in Chamonix to learn how to get the most out of their mountaineering” said Andy Perkins of the BMG. “It’s also a great opportunity to work alongside our professional colleagues at the Compagnie des Guides de Chamonix and Chamonix Experience.”
