Skiing in a high mountain environment comes with some risks, which in the confines of a pisted ski area are controlled by the ski patrol. When off piste skiing, we need to address those risks ourselves. A Guide can minimize these risks for you – avalanches and crevasses for instance – either guiding you through them, or teaching you to manage the risks yourself. In addition, a British Mountain Guide can coach you in off-piste ski techniques, enabling you to enjoy the experience even more.
It’s all about the snow!
However, the main task of the guide is to find you the best snow. Many British Mountain Guides are based in the Alps all winter, so many of the world’s major resorts are in their back yard. British Mountain Guides travel throughout the Alps during the winter, exchanging information between themselves on a frequent basis to help them find the best conditions for you.
Whether it’s off-piste tuition, avalanche awareness training, classic off-piste runs like the Vallée Blanche or heli-skiing from an alpine peak, choose a British Mountain Guide for your next off-piste adventure.
